To develop information technology industry pursuant to the policy of the government and fit the needs of information technology manpower required by enterprises, the Department was therefore established in 1994. With the efforts of all teachers and students, the Department grows gradually.

 

 

The Department, initially after being established, had two classes for students in the two-year junior college program in Day Division. The Department mainly accepted those who graduated from senior high schools and vocational schools. In the 1996 academic year, the Department set up the two-year junior college program in Night Division and had one class for the students in the program. From the 1997 academic year, the Department had two classes for students in the two-year junior college program in Nigh Division. In the 1998 academic year, there were two classes for students in the two-year junior college program in the Extension Junior College. In 1999, Night Division was renamed to “Division of Continuing and Extension Education”. As of the 1999 academic year, the Department had four classes for students in the two-year junior college program in Day Division, six classes for students in the two-year junior college in Division of Continuing and Extension Education and six classes in Extension Junior College. In the 2002 academic year, the Department had one class for students in the four-year technical program in Day Division, two classes for students in the two-year junior college in Day Division, one class for students in the two-year junior college in Division of Continuing and Extension Education and two classes in Extension Junior College.

 

In the 2004 academic year, the two-year junior college program in Day Division was terminated, and there were two classes for students in the four-year technical program in Day Division, one class for students in the four-year technical program in Division of Continuing and Extension Education and one class for students in the two-year technical program in College of Continuing Education. In February 2009, the Department was combined with the “Institute of Innovation and Technology Management”. In August 2009, the graduate school was renamed to “Institute of Innovation Technology and Information Management”.

 

For integration of the issues derived from the combination of the Department and the graduate institute and to fulfill the development goal of NCUT, the graduate institute applied in June 2013 for changing its name to the “Master’s Program in Department of Information Management,” and accepted students to study in the master’s program in information management pursuant to the approval letter No. Tai-Chiao-Chi-(2)-Tzu-No.1020177078 dated Dec. 2, 2013 from Ministry of Education. As of the 2013 academic year, the Department had two classes for students in the master’s program in Day Division, two classes for students in the in-service master’s program, eight classes for students in the four-year technical program in Day Division and four classes for students in the four-year technical program in Division of Continuing and Extension Education. Besides, for professionals in the industry and overseas applicants who intend to study more about their relevant fields, the Department has also provided the industrial master’s program,S the industry-academy cooperation program and the programs for overseas students.
