What is NCUT’s English requirements for graduation? |
English requirements for graduation applies to students who seek 2 and 4-year college degree. “GEPT: Students from Department of Applied English are required to pass the GEPT High-Intermediate Preliminary Test For non-applied English students, the requirements for graduation are as follows: 387 on TOEIC ( with a minimum score for Listening of 110 and Reading of 115), 200 on CSEPRT and all equivalent score to the GEPT High-Intermediate Preliminary Test. ※Non-Applied English students may obtain a second foreign language certificate of at least CEF B1 to meet the requirements for graduation. What can I do to make up for failing to meet the English requirements for graduation in my senior year? |
You may take the English Remedial Program. 1. Timetable of the class: the course begins in the second semester of sophomore year for Daytime four-year college students. For Daytime two-year college students, it begins in the second semester of freshman year. 2. Eligibility: Daytime Four-year college students- a. Two English proficiency test results with both tests taken during the college study period (either one of the results meet the entry level), or b. If neither tests scores meet the entry level, students have to take and pass the English test conducted by the Language Center. Daytime Two-year college students- c. English proficiency test results with the test taken during the college study period (the result should at least meet the entry level), or d. If tests scores does not meet the entry level, students have to take and pass the English test conducted by the Language Center. 3. How to apply: Within the drop and add week, E-mail your English proficiency test results to the Language Center for review. How do I know if I meet the requirements for graduation if I took English proficiency tests other than GEPT? |

Is there any test conducted by official English Test Institute held on campus? Where can I find the information? |
Students and teachers can take language tests on campus. Based on NCUT’s annual English test plan, the Language Center partners with LTTC and ETS to conduct “CSEPT® (1)” or TOEIC” tests. With fees discounted upon group registration, participants may complete the registration online following their designated test dates and registration deadlines. Website addresses for the tests are:

Are there any learning resources available for me to enhance my English ability out of the curriculum? |
We offer an all-school English learning website, including EasyTest, LiveABC, E-Study Bank, TOEIC question bank, GEPT and JLPT focused learning materials, for students to enhance their language abilities. Are there credited language courses in NCUT? |

What is an English Micro-course? Who has the eligibility? Do students have to pay for the course? |
To encourage NCUT students to take English proficiency tests and also assist students to meet the English requirements for graduation, free English Micro-courses are offered every semester (provisioned under the annual budget). The course concentrates on English capabilities and the ability to pass the test. NCUT students can go to the Language Center website for relevant information. Is there any financial aid or reward for students taking foreign language proficiency tests? |
1. Subsidy for the registration fee of foreign language proficiency tests: Students who meet the English requirements for graduation is eligible to apply for TWD 800-100, according to the registration fee of the taken test.

Are there any extra-curriculum for me to enhance my Mandarin capability? |
To improve international students’ Mandarin capability for daily and study purposes, the Language Center offer a free Mandarin Micro-course every semester (provisioned under the annual budget).It provides basic, beginner and advanced Mandarin courses to enhance students’ Mandarin ability so that they can have better performance. For freshmen, a 126-hour “Mandarin Program for Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing,” is available on evenings. For more information, go to the Language Center Website. What reward programs does NCUT provide for Mandarin learning? |
Reward programs for International Students’ Improvement on Mandarin (learning) Performance For international students (including students of IBP), a reward programs is available for those who acquired, after admission, a Language-Center-approved Mandarin test result (as the first test result), undertook NCUT’s Mandarin courses, participated in the SCTOP Mandarin Proficiency Test (independent from NCUT) and provid the test results (as a second test) to the Center to verify that the improvement since the first test has reached the Program requirements.
