The aim of National Chinyi University of Technology (NCUT) is to cultivate students into solid persons with capabilities of professional knowledge, independent thinking, and judgment. The education philosophy of NCUT is “Education is everywhere” working like wind on the leaves and invisible. With this philosophy, sincerely hope all of the students, staff, and faculty in NCUT collaborate like a big circle with the same goal to do their best in order to make NCUT grow stronger and develop sustainably.

Message from the President
National Chin-yi University of Technology (NCUT), under the brilliant efforts of successive presidents, all the faculties and students, has earned its reputation in Taichung area for its achievements on promotion of technical and vocational education, including the fields of electrical engineering and computer science, humanities and creativity, management, engineering, and general education; as well as on the quality-keeping of technology accreditation, and close co-operations with local corporations and factories. We endeavor to develop a campus with the motto of “diligence, determinacy, sincerity, and honesty”, to cultivate professional talents with skills and virtues – “professional know-how, humanistic concern, social responsibility, and international outlook”, and to build a happy and world-class university of technology.
NCUT was founded by General Chang Ming and Ms. Wang Kuo-hsiu in 1971 as a private school, aiming to cultivate advanced professional talents in engineering and management. The founders believed in the social responsibility of obtaining resources from the society and feeding them back to the society. Based on such selfless concern, they donated the school to the government in 1992 to actualize their ideal of “education is nothing but being role models for the students.” NCUT is located at a newly developed satellite city, neighboring to Taiping Industrial Area, Dali Industrial Area, Taichung Industrial Area, Tanzi Export Processing Zone, and the Central Taiwan Science Park, within a close reach of the “Golden Gorge” – the precision machinery zone of Taiwan.
In pursuing the goal of “green-oriented university of technology dedicated to quality industry”. NCUT is comprised of 5 colleges (College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Information Science, College of Management, College of Humanities and Creativity, and College of General Education), 14 academic Departments, 12 Master Programs, and 1 Ph.D. Program, with about 11,547 students, over 20 research laboratories and research centers for machine tool technology, green technology, electrochemistry micro-nanotechnology, polymer film and advanced materials, precision manufacturing, robot design, solar energy, refrigeration engineering, power SCADA System, electrical machinery, game design, chip design, and image processing technology.
Benefit from the merits of being a national university with the spirits of a private school, NCUT is neighboring to the precision machinery industrial community in Taiwan, we have 30 hectares of land, with excellent geographical location that is ideal for conducting industry-academy cooperation. To cope with the trends of national development and change in social environment, we have projected for development of our school with precise positioning and objectives. Working towards the goal of being an R&D institute for “machine tool technology” and “green technology”, backed by the capacities for design in the College of Humanities and Creativity, and College of Management, we integrate the potentials of “machine tool industry and green technology industry” with the applications of “engineering and information science” and “the foundation of management and humanities” in an interdisciplinary manner. Therefore, NCUT has been rated among the top 8 universities of technology by 2,000 large enterprises surveyed by Cheers magazine.
With the promotion of technical and vocational education of electrical engineering and computer science, humanities and creativity, management, and engineering, NCUT will .continue to maintain a balance between theory and practice, technology and humanities, local and international industries. In the future, NCUT will mobilize the internal and external academic resources for the advanced research achievements and more innovative contributions. NCUT is getting on the road toward the world-class university of technology.
