Historical Profile of the Department of Electrical Engineering

NCUT is a unique university of technology. It is a school that was donated to the country by citizens and restructured. Holding the spirit of taking from society to benefit society, the founders, General Chang Ming and Ms. Wang Kuo-Hsiu, had realized their philosophy by setting an example. “Education is nothing but a concern for role model.” The two founders were awarded official citations successively issued by the two Presidents Lee Teng-Hui and Chen Shui-Bian in 1992 and 2005. They recognized their contribution to society by appreciating their achievement in educating and cultivating students.

In 1971, the school was approved to be established. Its name was “Chin-Yi Technical Vocational Junior College” then. In 1973, it was renamed to “Chin-Yi Institute of Technology”. In 1982, It established Night Division. In the winter of 1990, the founders General Chang Ming and Ms. Wang Kuo-Hsiu donated the school unconditionally to the government. In 1990, it was renamed to “Chin-Yi Junior College of Industry and Commerce”. In 1992, it was renamed to “National Chin-Yi Junior College of Industry and Commerce”. In 1999, it was restructured and renamed to “National Chin-Yi Institute of Technology”, On Feb. 1, 2007, it was formally renamed to “National Chin-Yi University of Technology”. 2019

The Four-Year Technical Program and the Master’s Program passed the six-year IEET Engineering Education Certification.

2018

In 2018, the Taiwanese government allocated 150 million New Taiwan dollars (NTD) to strengthen NCUT’s higher education. NCUT is one of the leading higher technological education institutions in the nation.

2017

NCUT has continuously won the Ministry of Education Technology University Excellence Award for the last 12 years and has been continuously selected for the Model Technology University Program for the last 5 years.

2016

The Four-Year Technical Program Day School passed the three-year Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) Engineering Education Certification again.

2015

The technical school’s two-year continuing education program stopped recruiting students.

NCUT passed the performance assessment of the Ministry of Education.

2014

In 2014, NCUT passed the Ministry of Education’s Comprehensive Evaluation of Technology Universities.

The Four-Year Technical Program passed the three-year IEET Engineering Education Certification, and the Master’s Program passed the six-year IEET Engineering Education Certification.

NCUT was allowed to host a Computer Engineering Master’s Degree Program for working professionals, and the program began recruiting students in 2014.

2013

NCUT was allowed to host a Master’s Degree Program for working professionals.

NCUT has continuously won the Ministry of Education Technology University Excellence Award for the last nine years and was selected for the Model Technology University Program.

Passed the three-year accreditation from IEET (Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan)

Passed the two-year accreditation from IEET (Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan)

2006

「Institute of Electrical Engineering」was set up and started to recruit students in 2006 school year.

2004

Received the First grade evaluation from the evaluation of Ministry of Education.

2003

A four-year college diploma program was set up and student-recruiting was started in the 2004 academic year.

The 2-year college diploma program opened two classes and started student recruitment.

2002

「Institute of Information and Electrical Energy」was set up and started to recruit students in 2002 school year.

The four-year college diploma program opened two classes. Day School's 2-year college program stopped recruiting students.

2000

「Department of Electrical Engineering」was officially approved. It opened one class for two-year daytime diploma program, three classes for two-year college program, and as well as one class for two-year diploma program and two classes for two-year college at the Continuing Education Dept.

1999

The school applied to add two-year vocational college diploma program to the Department of Electrical Engineering and the program started to recruit its first year students.

1998

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Section was separated to be an independent department. New course standard was carried out.

1994

The Ministry of Education announced the new course standard for the 2nd time. The new standard was officially carried out in the 1995 school year.

1991

Received the First grade evaluation from the 7th evaluation of Ministry of Education.

1987

 Ministry of Education completed the 5th evaluation. We remained the honor to be evaluated as Department of The First Grade.

1984

Ministry of Education completed the 4th evaluation. We had the honor to be evaluated as Department of The First Grade. The Day School's 「Electrical Power Section」added one more class.

1982

The Ministry of Education announced the new course standard for the 1st time. The 「Electrical Engineering Section」and the 「Refrigeration Section」 were renamed to current 「Electrical Power Section」and 「Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Section」, respectively.

In the same year, the Ministry of Education approved and implemented the regulation, allowing colleges to set up 「Evening school」. This department was approved to open two classes for the「Electrical Power Section」.

1981

Ministry of Education completed the 3rd evaluation. We had the honor to be evaluated as Department of The First Grade.

1980

「Refrigeration Section」was added. Each section included two classes.

1979

 A class was added.

1978

The Ministry of Education completed the 2nd evaluation. We had the honor to be evaluated as Department of The First Grade.

1975

Renamed to「Electrical Engineering Section」under orders again and was approved to recruit two classes of students for the 「Electrician Section」. In the same year, the Ministry of Education for the first time implemented a department evaluation; the department had the honor to be evaluated as Department of The First Grade.

1973

Designated as 「Electrician Section」under orders.

1971

When the school was founded, the 「Electrical Technology Section」was approved and started to recruit one class of students.
